We do not mention every dial around international calling service but Spokn really stuck out when Josep sent me a link to it. The service kind of reminds me of Skype but cheaper. The international calling rates are pretty good and they even let you get your own direct number in 8 different countries for a dollar a month!
The service is compatible with SIP phones along with Windows desktop clients and is getting a Mac client soon. As I said the service kind of stands out from the crowd with striking similarities to Skype with lower prices.
You can find their BlackBerry app at m.spokn.com or more info at this link. I have not tried them myself but let us know if you do!

I’m still waiting for Skype to launch something on BlackBerry! They haven’t had an update about that project since missing the May deadline. (perhaps OS 5.0 could make it easier to develop a real VOIP app?)

Hi Kim,
I’m the Product Manager for Spokn. The Spokn application for the BlackBerry exits if it detects a non 4.x OS. We’re currently testing it on OS 5.0 – we’re expecting it to work without any issues. You should be hearing from us in the next few days.
Thanks for writing in! We’ll be in touch.
Regards,
Vinod.

Hi Tanya,
Glad to know you had a good experience. We’re expecting the voice quality to improve even further after we complete some changes in this week.
Regards,
Vinod.

Sorry Akshay, that’s not possible.
When you initiate a call using Spokn on the BlackBerry, the Spokn servers make a phone call to your BlackBerry phone number and then patch in the party you called.
Since this is happening over the regular phone line (not VoIP), we can’t give it away for free.
