RIM Considering Opening a Facility in North Carolina Region?

research-triangle-park I asked RIM about this and have not heard anything official but it still warrants a mention. The NewsObserver is reporting that RIM interviewed quite a few job seekers during a two day recruiting event at the Marriot Research Triangle Park in Durham, North Carolina.

RIM supposedly told candidates that they are considering opening a facility in that region. One of the presentations during the event “was held against the backdrop of a map showing a red dot for every RIM location along with a green dot for the Triangle.”

It all makes sense since the area saw some huge job layoffs recently from Nortel, IBM, Sony Ericsson, and more. It is a great opportunity for RIM to grab up some talented individuals who are currently out of work. The area is also home to offices from Lenovo, GSK, Cisco, and more.

So anybody thinking of moving to NC to apply? RIM already has offices in Irvine, Texas, Redwood City CA, Fort Lauderdale Florida, Chicago, and Ottawa. Makes me wonder when they will be adding a location around New York… 🙂

  1. I live about 10 minutes from that area, have over 5 years of experience providing device support, and would apply in a heartbeat.
