The developers of the popular Gwabbit automatic contact manager/extractor app let us know that they will be coming out with a free version of their popular app on Tuesday December 8th. Gwabbit is a parsing app that will grab and update your address book using the information you get in email signatures. The app works quite well but the $9.99/year subscription has deterred quite a few users.
They are planning on announcing the new free version of Gwabbit which will annoyingly be released exclusively on App World. The free version includes a new alerting feature that lets contacts know by email when their information has been added to your address book. I just hope it offers you the option to turn that feature off.
It will be interesting to see how the Fremium model works for Gwabbit and if they will be using the free version to push upgrades to the full version. Or maybe the free version will be ad supported… We will let you know as we learn more!

I don’t know Ronen, I think that’s exactly why they’re offering it for free. I really can’t bring myself to use any products that send out emails like that.

Yeah seems to defeat the purpose to spam the people you want as contacts. Same reason I cannot recommend DriveSafe.ly until they turn that off by default!
