Desktop Manager 5.0.1.28 – Fixes & Improvements

dm5-2 Ray & then Edwin brought this new Desktop Manager 5.0.1.28 to our attention and it looks like a pretty nice update. It still does not work with Outlook 2010 but the official change log is below. From what I can tell it looks like RIM decided to put back the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector and added a simple button to change your profile.

New in this release

  • Synchronization
    • Support for new fields on the address book for your device
    • Enhancements to the synchronization process for organizer data
  • IP modem – User interface for using your device as an IP modem
  • Application loader – Back up and restore secure services on your device while loading software
  • User interface – Moved link to check for BlackBerry® Desktop Manager updates to the Help menu
  • Operating system – Support for Windows® 7 is included
  • Language – Support for Greek and Hebrew
  • Devices – Support for the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 Smartphone, BlackBerry® Storm2™ 9520 Smartphone and the BlackBerry® Storm2™ 9550 Smartphone

    Still didn’t fix “Your computer must be connected to the internet to preform this operation” error. This error happens went I try to sync.

    I have done numerous uninstalls of 5, 5.01, 5.01last fix, and now this one.

    I have done clean uninstalls of prior versions and the above versions… only thing that works on my XP box is version 4.7 with the registry fix of changing the key from 6 to 0.

    If anyone has any idea how to solve the above error with any version of DM 5 it would be appreciated!
