IM+ for Skype v4 Beta – One Step Closer to True VOIP!!!
SHAPE let me know that they have just opened up the public beta for their IM+ for Skype application. This app will be adding a huge feature which is free calling over Wi-Fi with some MAJOR caveats but still this is HUGE! The problem is that the app only currently supports half-duplex mode which is kind of like a walkie-talkie. You hold down a button to talk and let go to listen.
- In order to place the VoIP call you need to select the proper call type under Settings->General
- Then select the contact from your contact list or Call->Call phone from the menu.
- Please press left convenient key to talk and release to listen
The open beta is available until December 8th at the links below
- Desktop Link: IM+ for Skype :: BlackBerry :: Products
- OTA Link: wap.shapeservices.com/skype-beta
Shape let me know that active beta tester will be getting free license codes!
