A million users is a pretty impressive number even for a free app. DriveSafe.ly is a pretty cool app that helps you drive safely… Simple enough right? It will even read emails and text messages that you receive out loud so you can keep your eyes on the road.
Still DriveSafe.ly has one HUGE fault. It has a tendency to email everybody whose email it reads out loud about how they just had your email read out loud to them. I get about 15 of these emails a day so PLEASE turn this “feature” off in the options! Maybe they reached 1 million users by annoying the hell out of all your friends. This is almost as bad as the broadcast feature in BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.
Please read Luis’s review of DriveSafe.ly to learn how to turn off this annoying “Feature”

not sure why that was missed, it was in the documentation that i read about it. The feature was to let anyone who sends you an email or text while it is turned on to know that you cant answer back right away as you are driving. Possibly annoying, but it did have a purpose.

Its in the documentation but its hidden under two sublevels of options and is really annoying… Nobody is expecting you to reply to emails or sms while driving!

The concept of the app is nice but it auto makes you a fan on facebook and subscribes you to their sms updates. I have a bb curve 8330 and all it did on my phone was lag the crap out of it. It worked fine for a few hours then my phone would freeze up even after reboots. The documentation tells you to put your phone on vib but even that didn’t help. A comment on their facebook profile just got deleted rather than responded to. It took three battery pulls to get my phone able to respond long enough to remove this crap from the phone. Per the company bluetooth support is also very limited.
I liked the idea and I know there are better proggies that do the same thing but as for this one it will stay off my phone.

A little configuration can be overlooked, I think its a great feature to have for the sake of safety.

I still don’t understand why people can’t just UNCHECK A BOX. It’s not that hard..Having the OPTIONAL auto-responder is a great feature. Since this app was created to help prevent texting while driving, I think it’s good to use. I think the real “problem” is that people leave the app on all the time (when not driving).
FYI..I just downloaded the latest version and they have an audio message at the beginning that tells you to turn off the auto-responder. There was also a popup dialog box that warned me that it was on. More obvious than ever.
