The guys over at Engadget are reporting that Google plans to update the User Interface (UI) of its older web applications to match the style and feel of its new Google Wave. Without trying to explain what Google Wave actually is (I still honestly don’t know), because it is the newest Google product, Google gave it a different looking UI than its older counterparts. The new UI adds color, depth perception, and rounded edges to functional boxes–making it feel more like a locally run program than cloud-based software.
While this is welcome news I wonder if the added graphics will slow the load time of these google web-apps when using a flaky or slow connection. But more importantly, does this mean we are also looking at makeovers of google mobile apps? Because while not hideous, they could use a refresh. What do you guys think ? leave your thoughts in the comments.

So you’re as lost by Wave as I am huh? Well, one day the mighty Google will enlighten us all…
The new look doesn’t do anything for me particularly.

Concur with DavidB
I am more interested in functionality being increased.
Also, have 0 idea what the point of Wave is…but I want it nonetheless, then maybe I can tell you what it is, lol.

The Wave UI is something to wave goodbye to at the moment IMHO. It can only improve
And lets hope you WON’T require at least the Chrome Frame app to make the UI work in IE. That IS a requirement for Wave at the moment and would makes it proprietary too. And less than stable.
