Another awesome announcement snuck in by RIM is future support for BlackBerry Development Tools on Mac. They are moving towards a pure java emulator which will boot faster into one app and be platform independent so developers can immediately test out their apps without loading the whole BlackBerry OS in the emulator.

One of the biggest developments this will lead to is BlackBerry Development tools available for the Mac (and hopefully Linux). They even were showing the demo on a Mac!

They were also talking about some live debugging that you can do for field element builders and all but it truthfully sounded like gibberish to me…

  1. Sure hope SOMETHING helps the boot time! It is absolutely IDICULOUS and there is ZERO LOGIC behind it taking so long for these latest phones to power up. They have a known OS going on a 100% known hardware set, it’s not like a Windows OS booting on hardward that could have changed during the last power down.
