I was told with no question by a RIM rep that the 8520 will definitely not be getting OS 5.0... Kevin from CrackBerrry was there too and he could not believe it...

Oh wow, I guess I should read the whole thing before commenting? LOL! I totally missed that at launch it will be available in two colors. That's a FIRST for a Verizon BlackBerry. In the past an alternate color has only been available MONTHS after initial launch (i.e. Red 8830, Pink 8130, Pink 8330, etc.). And no color choices to date for Tour or Storm. I just wonder how awful is "Smoky Violet" going to look...??? :)

I still contend this should have a model number of 8550. For consistency with device numbering of CDMA devices, xx50 is applicable versus xx30 since it has WiFi.

With 256MB of flash it SHOULD be able to run OS 5.0, but perhaps the reason it might NOT get 5.0 is the 320x240 screen resolution? As far as I can tell from reading specs of devices that ARE known to be getting 5.0 this seems to be the only spec on the 85xx devices that could logically hold them back from getting 5.0. Is there any other 320x240 BlackBerry that S known to be getting OS 5?
