United States Postal Service Launches Mobile Website

USPS-mobile The USPS used to be one of the slowest moving bureaucracies in the United States but this is a sign of the times. Bla1ze over @Crackberry spotted the USPS’s new mobile website that actually looks quite useful. I still have horrible memories of tracking packages on their desktop website from my BlackBerry browser so this is a breath of fresh air.

The new mobile site gives you access to track your packages and look up zip codes and USPS locations. Very useful for when you are tracking a package on the go. It also looks like they are working on future revisions that take advantage of GPS and more.

Check out the site at m.usps.com and don’t forget to bookmark it!

Keep up the good work guys!

  1. Web (or standalone BB app) LBS ability would be awesome. Sometimes I just need to find a post office and they could make it easier than it is now seeking the closest one via Google Maps.

  2. Thanks for the feedback – I lead mobile strategy for the USPS and this initial launch was intended to hit a broad range of devices. In a few weeks we are launching our iPhone APP which can be downloaded from Apple. I think you will love it, but either way Id love to have your feedback!

    • Well Jeff, hard as it may be to develop, a BlackBerry app is what the community here wants. You see, by the very nature of this site most could care less about yet another iPhone app… :)

      • I forgot to mention…..

We are rolling out the USPS Mobile ™ Blackberry APP in December! The APP will include features for finding shipping status on packages and other mail, looking up ZIP Codes via GPS and finding Post Offices and Collection boxes via GPS.

Other future enhancements will include sending real postcards through the mail, calculating rates, scheduling pickups and holding your mail when you go on vacation.

        I will keep everyone posted.
