xPlayer 1.7 Beta Adds Push Notification For Podcast Updates

xplayer_podcasts xPlayer kind of fell off my radar when it was taken over by Shape. Turns out that they are still actively developing the xPlayer media player. The app now includes the ability to play live radio and podcasts. Shape let me know that they have released a public beta for their xPlayer app that lets you subscribe to podcasts using BlackBerry Push technology.

I am not sure if that means that podcasts are pushed to your device or if you just get a push notification when a new podcast is released. Still if you are into podcasts it would be worth checking out. In order to subscribe in the app go to "Podcasts" section, select a podcast from
the list, then select "Podcast" / "Subscribe" from the menu. You will then see a subscription icon near it. Every time podcast is updated, you will receive push notification to your Blackberry.

Since BlackBerry Push works over BIS they are trying to test this on different carriers. You can download the beta from Shapes website at this link or OTA from this link. Active beta testers who send in feedback from the application menu will be awarded free license codes from Shape which is pretty cool.
