HOT! RIM Responds to Small Developer Feedback on Alliance Program
I am floating on cloud nine right now. We mentioned a bit back that smaller developers were not too happy with the newly revamped Alliance program. I just found out from Mike Kirkup that the hard working BlackBerry Alliances team is listening attentively to developer feedback. In that vein the Alliance program is working hard to ensure that ALL developers have access to the services they need to develop for the BlackBerry OS.
They identified the following three areas of concern for small developers:
- Access to BIS-B Transport
- Access to BIS Push Data services
- Access to devices for testing and development (via a loaner program or device purchase program)
They are now evaluating a way to provide access to these three essential services for the free Registered tier of the Alliances Program. This tier is free to join and does not have any point requirements for members. We will be keeping an eye on this development but I think this is a HUGE step in the right direction for RIM!
Kudos to all of the Alliances team for showing smaller devs that you truly care! If you make this happen I am sure there will be quite a few devs willing to buy you a drink at DevCon.
