Free AOL Radio Released For The AT&T BlackBerry Bold

When I read about this new free radio app I held off to see if AOL would add support for more devices or carriers. Turns out that the app will remain for the Bold only on AT&T and only works in the US. Talk about cutting down your target market!

I happen to be an AT&T Bold user so I gave the app a spin. It works almost exactly like Pandora with limited song skips (I think 5) per hour and the selection of music is pretty good.

Check it out in the App Store if you happen to be a AT&T Bold user too.

From the description:

The AOL Radio application streams your favorite AOL & CBS RADIO stations directly to your BlackBerry® Bold™. Whether it’s Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Hip-Hop, Oldies, Country, World, Latino, News, or Sports, AOL Radio guarantees you’ll be able to connect directly with all your favorite music, news and information no matter where you are.

With 30 genres and over 400 professionally-programmed stations at your fingertips, you can quickly favorite stations, share stations with friends, and skip songs you don’t like.

Any issues running this app for anybody? I noticed on some stations it keeps buffering and changes album covers, doesn’t play anything…

It seems to pretty much only work on Wi-Fi. It locks up and won’t connect when I am on 3G but works fine when I am on Wi-Fi. That is a big disappointment to me and I think I will go back to Slacker or Pandora.

Wow, mine works fine on 3G, exept for the continuous buffer on certain stations…I still have slacker on my phone and wonder if that is conflicting.I like the fact that it has news and so many presets.

  4. I actually have this running on my Bold on the Canadian carrier Rogers.

  5. Thanks SaneinOne, I was just logging in to see if there were any comments on compatibility with Canadian carriers. BTW I’m a big fan of FlyCast and RadioCompanion. I also carry IHeartRadio around. How big is this app? I’m really pushing the reasonable limit for app space on my Bold.
