One of our readers dropped this tip into us this morning and has been confirmed on Rimarkable.com.
Rumor has it is that RIM has updated the BlackBerry Messenger Servers to the latest version and inadvertently pushed out an OTA download link to some BlackBerry Messenger users.
Some of our readers have already downloaded BBM 5 from our previous link(s):BBM 5.0 OTA’s for everyone who missed out on the first leak
Well, it looks like those that waited for the official may not have too much longer to wait. (And trust me, it IS worth the wait….)

This version will be tagged as 2.5 I think. I believe they are trying to keep the version somewhat close to the native IM clients for AOL, Google, MSN, Yahoo, & ICQ.

Hopefully someone can post the OTA for it but I have no new URL for this version as of yet.

yesterday this info popup on my BBM (and on my friends also), when i click “get link” it redirect me to BB mobile site with old BBM 4.0 and 4.1

I have waited this long so far. What’s a few more days. I wonder when RIM opens the flood gates will it work with the leaked 5.0.0.230 for Tours? If not no biggy I will downgrade.

ok i have the 8900 and downloaded this.
ans now my icon is missing i searched for it. it downloaded sucsess. i have the 5.0 os. could that be it? someone help. email me youngmass23@aol.com

Ditto, I have the same issue with the Bold 5.0.0.238. The software is installed but no icon, so…how is it supposed to show up?

OK SO I ORGI DOWNLOAD 8520 CURVE 4.6 LINK IT DOWNLOAD BUT MY BBM ICON DISSAPEARED…ALL I DID WAS GO TO THIS LINK http://smartphonenation.com/2009/07/download-the-new-blackberry-messenger-5-0-ota/ AND I DOWN LOAD AGAIN THE 8900 CURVE VERSION AND IT WORKED!!! I THINK U JUS HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT TWICE.
