The reports are flooding in that once again we are experiencing a BIS outage in North America. Emails have been delayed for hours and you cannot login to many carriers BIS login pages. Some people are reporting that emails are coming through in spurts.
I know that RIM was supposed to do a second stage of the BIS 2.8 upgrade on Sunday but that does not explain this outage. The reports are even coming from the forums.
Report back in the comments with your experiences!
Thanks Michael and Koolaide for bringing this to out attention!

It appears that the delays are affecting BES as well. I just received a flood of Sent items on my BlackBerry that were sent on the desktop hours ago (from as early as 7:45 EDT)!

Do we have to do anything to get BIS 2.8 or does RIM push it out to us. Oh and by the way, BIS is out on Tmobile in Tampa, FL

Folks it’s not related to BIS 2.8 – just an outage – you have to be patient this one was big and will take some extra hours to recover.

I know its not related to BIS 2.8 but im just asking whenever RIM releases 2.8, do they push it to us or are we gonna have to take some sort of action to get it running on our phones.

If it is the same process as in the past your will need to do nothing as it effects only the BIS infrastructure.

BIS is RIM side thing (not device side) – the only action you need to take sometimes is to remove and add an e-mail account (to get newly introduced features to work). Anyway BIS upgrade for North America is not happening this month.
