W2BI AetherPal Adds Remote User Control Features for BES Admins

AetherPal RIM_Remote W2BI let me know that they have released AetherPal 2.3 which is a plugin for BES mobile device management. I had never heard of them before since Boxtone seems to dominate this field but they have some really cool features in this latest version.

AetherPal BB BannerThe main feature that caught my attention was what they call user initiated remote control sessions. This feature is a virtualization tool that enables support staff to remotely view, manage, and control the user’s device for troubleshooting, remote installation, device training, and application demonstrations while retrieving device parameters. There are a few companies like LogMeIn that offer such a feature but it is super expensive at over a grand a seat. Hopefully AetherPal comes at a lower price point.

They also have a cool banner notification system which lets you deliver custom messages or notifications to individuals or groups. These can contain graphics, logos, links and more. Could be a pretty cool feature in some organizations.

Still it may be worth checking out AetherPal at aetherpal.w2bi.com if you are in the market for such a solution. I just hope they have some other trouble shooting solution other than remote user control since Boxtone showed me a report that almost 50% of BlackBerry related helpdesk calls are due to activation issues.
