DataBackup Beta 2: Adds Backup & Restore for Memos

databackupS4BB let us know that they have updated the public beta of their DataBackup app. This new version adds the ability to backup memos along with contacts to your SD card. SmrtGuard and PhoneBAKup do this for a fee already so it will be interesting to see how much S4BB charges for this when it comes out. You can also use iDrive Lite for OTA contacts backup free. I really hope that RIM is starting to realize that PIM backup is a must for consumers and having to wait until you sync with desktop manager is not a solution.

Features in Beta 2:

  • Memo Backup
  • Memo Restore
  • Type Selection: choose "Memos", "Contacts" or both for backup and restore processes
  • Restore List: shows all previously created backup files for easy selection and restore
  • Progress Bar: shows the progress during backup
  • Unicode support: Foreign language characters like Chinese, Japanese and others are supported during backup and restore process now
  • Bug fixes: Minor user interface issues have been fixed
