First Cellphone in Nauru Declared Public Holiday

LocationNauru Digicel Group announced the launch of the first mobile network in the small country of Nauru this past week causing the country’s president to declare a national holiday. Its kind of crazy that some countries still have no cell phone networks but this is the worlds smallest independent nation so maybe they will be the last.

If cellphones warrant a national holiday what will happen when they get BlackBerrys? :)

They will wander off the island while texting and drown in the ocean. Then the remaining ones will all ditch the BlackBerry since they’re all within shouting distance anyway.

Texting while walking/riding legislation is sure to follow!
