Microsoft Forgets to Rename BlackBerry Live Search App to Bing?

Windowslivesearchnewfeatures[1]Microsoft has been pushing the Bing name over Live Search for awhile now so this oversight is kind of interesting. DavidB was poking around on the old Live Search download page (m.live.com/download/) and now it redirects to Bing (m.bing.com/download/).

On that page you can see that the Windows Mobile app has been renamed to Bing for Windows Mobile but the BlackBerry app is still called Live Search for BlackBerry. Microsoft is a huge company with untold resources that this oversight is kind of interesting. Its also sad to see that they have not updated the app for the Tour since if you install the 4.7 version it expects a touchscreen.

Still maybe some discussion will prompt Microsoft to update the app… It is a pretty good app with some more category specific functions compared to the Google Search app.

  1. I use this app more than Google Maps. It is the best for finding restaurants and movies. I also like that I can add the business to my address book. But now that I have a Tour I am stuck with a version for 4.6.1 devices and the icon looks horrible on the screen. I would think they would have a vested interest in BlackBerry but I guess they don’t seem to care to much.

  2. If you download the 4.6 version it works on the tour that’s what I did

  3. This is because they barely support the BB version.

The WM version has been renamed for quite some time.

  4. jenathi: are you able to use the GPS with Windows Live on your Tour?
