So… two way contact sync. Ok we’re getting closer to two way mail sync, I guess.

Welcome back R!
If only the new gmail plugin worked with “Messages”. Sucks the current only works in the individual mailbox, which anyone with more than just gmail isn’t likely to use.

Better Gmail contact sync is nice. Improved Google Calendar sync would be even better.
I’m using the Enhanced Gmail plugin and liking it more. It offers some GTD benefits. The big highlight is being able to search all Gmail on the server.

The search function in the gmail app is the best and it doesn’t require the individual mailbox to work.

Ehr… they already have 2-way sync?
When i change/add a contact on my phone or in gmail it shows up on the other after the next sync… Been like that since January 2009.

I think the current setup requires a separate Google sync app. From what I understand, it’ll be built-in in this new BIS version.

Will this replace Google Sync and Gmail for Mobile?

Hallelujah! About time. Hope they test it more thoroughly than the Enhanced Gmail plugin before they release. It would be nice if it worked well out of the box. I wish they’d just work hand in hand w Google to create a totally new consumer grade OS. BTW, Google Contact groups are the Friends, Family, CoWorkers, etc groups that you can set up in your gmail contacts

One thing noone seems to be paying attention to is:
“Two-way wireless Contact synchronization with Google Mail Contacts requires BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0 and configuration through email settings on the BlackBerry smart phone. ”
Considering BIS 2.8 is slated for September, 5.0 OS release should be within (if not before) the same time frame
