In case anyone else stumbles across this, if you get a 552 error on startup, connect your BlackBerry to your PC and open Desktop Manager. Go to the Add/Remove Applications section, and remove the last app(s) you installed. My problem started immediately after installing a particular app, so I removed that one, then everything was back to normal. :)

I've got a Sprint Tour, and I recently installed a new app then, rebooted. Now every time I boot the phone, I get a Java error (552: Reload Software). I tried the Safe Mode trick, and could not get it to work either...guess I get to reinstall now :/

I hold down the back button and it boots all the way up and if I continue holding it, I just get a black screen. As soon as I let go, I get the home screen and no safe mode.

It works perfect on my 8900 Curve. I had to actaully use it twice to del a corrupted theme and app. But I never pulled out the battery. Just restart phone - and I just held down the BACK button until it boots up and I will see it says safe mode. I'm also running 4.6.1.250 OS

Doesn't work on the Bold with 4.6.0.297. Tried with a Battery Pull, QuickPull, and Alt+Shift+Del. Boots up normally, no safe mode.

I have tried this on my tour and can't get it to work. I read that when you put your battery back in wait for the red led to go off then hold your back key. Well I held it for the whole restart and nothing happen. If any Tour owners have tried it. Please let me know how you got it to work. Thanks.
