My Mobile Watchdog is a pretty interesting service/application that I can see overprotective parents embracing. The app along with their $9.95/month service ($25 setup fee) lets you monitor and log your child’s phone call log, SMS, MMS, & email. I used to wonder what parent was giving their child a expensive BlackBerry and $20+/month data plan but I know 3 of our writers have kids with BlackBerrys…
My Mobile Watchdog is very adamant about their application not being spyware since it notifies the user that they are being monitored but it essentially does the same thing. I am not sure how it is logging this information but I hope it is being done over a data connection instead of SMS. All notifications are logged on their website along with being sent to the parents phone.
With all the craze recently about “Sexting” this might not be so far fetched of a solution… Still that is one pricy monthly charge and setup fee but who can put a price on peace of mind (paranoia?).
Check it out at www.mymobilewatchdog.com or in the App World at this link.
Kudos to Tashanna for sending this one in along with Cherrichiodo for spotting it

I don’t really get how this service would be any better than checking your account activity, assuming the kids have their accounts under your family plan. While you may not get the content of the calls, sms, etc… You can at least know what numbers they are calling/texting.
