Verizon Announces “Apply Your Ideas” $50,000 Developer Contest
After Verizon’s developer conference all the signs have been pointing towards them launching a app store of their own soon. Now they have taken one step further with their new “Apply Your Ideas” contest for developers.
The idea is that developers submit applications in certain categories and they are entered to win. The main requirements is that the application must be new to the BlackBerry and it must work on the Verizon BlackBerry Storm. I guess Verizon is really focused on competing with the App World. One grand prize winner will be selected after submissions close on September 20th. After users vote from Sept 24th to 28th the finalists will be chosen and a judging panel will select the grand prize winner to be announced on Oct 30th. The winner will be featured in the store along with getting $50,000 and 2 times the applications revenue for a year up to $100,000. Pretty cool!
