BBTran 1.7 Released – Improved Connections & Features

TranslationProviders_2 BBTran is one of my two favorite free BlackBerry translator applications. Between BBTran and Navita Translator I have most of my translation needs covered which is usually just confused readers sending in emails in Spanish. :)

The developer of BBTran, Sergey, let me know that the app was recently updated to version 1.7 which added some features but mostly just fixed many of the connection issues people were having. Now the app handles all of the BlackBerry transports so the connection should be as good as it gets.

Also improved:

  • Merged Word and Text translations
  • Dictionary mode added
  • Translation providers list refreshed
  • Improved blackberry Integration
  • Some UI improvements

Check out the full detailed change log at this link. The free version is pretty feature full but the pro version is also available for $12.99. They seem to have a deal going for $3 off the pro version using coupon code BBTR17RN at this link.

why spend $12.99 (pro version) for this when navita translator is free and in my opinion works better + i can send by email, sms and pin the translated text
when bbtrans wants you to pay the $12.99 to do this> get navita request a free license (within the app) and enjoy.

    • Hi duck, thank you for the feedback.
In case 6 languages instead of 59 are enough for you and you do not need alternative translation or a dictionary mode, it’s better for you to stay with Navita.

But generally any service software should be monetized sooner or later. Otherwise it will not be supported well or improved. I believe Navita will introduce nonfree version soon since they already have a registration for the license from the first version ;)

The main question here is a price for the end user. I’m open to suggestions. Probably some users have ideas hot to monetize bbtran in a better way or what would be the best price for it.

Thx for your reply, im not knocking your product at all cause before i found Navita i was using BBtrans (as we also communicated a few times through e-mail) im only saying the price was not for me, the 6 languages are plenty for me for the amount of times i use, also all updates to your app i have looked into as it still keeps my interest
wishing you much success on a very nice app.
        take care
