PaderSyncSSH Public Beta – a Much Needed SSH Client Alternative

pader-syncSSH While I was reading the little news tidbit from Pader-Sync about their applications becoming free for personal use I ran across this app. Turns out that Pader-Sync is working on an SSH client for BlackBerry that looks quite good. I used to swear by the extremely pricy (~$99) Rove Mobile SSH until Rove STUPIDLY discontinued Mobile SSH in favor of their even more expensive $500+ Mobile Admin product.

Until now I have been using the free and opensource MidpSSH which has gotten better with DeltaTech’s custom build. Still MidpSSH leaves me wanting so I have always been searching for an alternative. I have not had a chance to fully try out PaderSyncSSH but I am hoping that it at least buffers input. The current version 0.0.18 is a pretty early build but hopefully it will continue to be heavily developed.

PaderSyncSSH Features:
  • VT100 Terminal Emulation.
  • Remote command execution.
  • SFTP client.
  • Local file system access.
  • Zlib compression.
  • Bookmark system to manage login details.
  • Encryption of sensitive user data on mobile device using AES-256.
  • Password protected access to the application.
  • Automated one-way file synchronization.

You can download and read more about PaderSyncSSH at this link.

Unfortunately, it looks like it does not support Telnet for those folks still in Microsoft’s clutches. MidpSSH supports Telnet but I could never get it to work right.
