Verizon Opens Developer Portal for their Upcoming App Store

verizon-dev-conference Verizon opened up their new Developer Portal during their Verizon Developer Community Conference. This is a preclude to their upcoming app store in Q4. They have some pretty big names already lined up but I still don’t think it will confuse the hell out of users with yet another storefront. It also makes me wonder what will happen if you try to transfer a license you buy in the Verizon app store when you move to another carrier like AT&T. I really want to see if Verizon is planning on providing anything more than what RIM already gave them with the App Center for carriers.

Some details about the Verizon App Store:

  • API’s were provided to get things started
  • Revenue share will be 70/30 and surprisingly free software will be allowed
  • The also promise a 14 day maximum turnaround for approvals
  • Let developers set their own prices
