Review:LaterDude Pro

[Rating:9]

Version: 2.0.49

Cost: $1.95 until August 1st

Fabian, developer of the very popular Vibe and Ring, is back at it again. This time with a simple, inexpensive and helpful application to help you stay organized.

From the description:

LaterDude Pro is an application that simply reminds you to call, SMS or email someone. The efficiency of it is that it interacts with the system and creates a new event into the internal calendar application.
After installation, LaterDude Pro is available for use on your device. It does not have an icon but is always present on your system via the Menu.
You click on Menu -> Remind me later! to access the application.

You can launch LaterDude Pro from everywhere, but if you are in the following applications then you can invoke the current entry:
– Call Log
– Messages/email Application
– SMS Application
– Address Book
From these 4 applications you can select an entry to directly get its contents imported into the fields of LaterDude Pro.

For example if you want to get notified tomorrow that you have to contact your Doctor, you go into the Address Book, scroll to your Doctor’s entry, press Menu -> Remind me later! to set up a call-back reminder. The phone number and name is then already set in the LaterDude Pro application.

Pros-

– Inexpensive way to easily set reminders for yourself.

– Great for people consistently on the go!

– Simple, yet accomplishes what it says.

Cons-

– only works on Blackberries running 4.5+.  Have not tried this on OS 5.0

Verdict-

Once you get in the habit of using this, you’ll never realize how much you truly forget! I’ve been setting 10-15 reminders a day since I started using this.  Can’t go wrong for the price!

App is available in the Berry Review store for $1.95 until August 1st, then goes back up to $2.95 .  Link here http://store.berryreview.com/product.asp?id=33583&n=LaterDude-Pro

  1. One minor lacking item that I have read about (and verified)… of that address book entry only has a company name (not a first/last name pair), the entry posted to the calendar only contains the phone number – NOT a name… so instead of being reminded to Call Joe’s Cable Company (212) 555-1212, I am reminded only to Call (212) 555-1212.

Otherwise, this is a fantastic app.

Hadn’t noticed that, but then again, can’t think of a contact in my address book without a name. Plus you can enter manually anyways if need be.
