RIM & Apple’s 3% Market Share Accounts for 35% of Wireless Profits
These are some pretty impressive estimates for RIM and Apple. Deutsche Bank analyst Brian Modoff stated that RIM and Apple with 3% combined market share in smartphone sales led to 35% of wireless operating profits in 2008. That is huge! I guess smartphones ARE the way of the future for carriers.
There is no further breakdown between RIM and Apple but Modoff is predicting that in 2009 RIM & Apple will have a combined global market share of 5% and will account for 58% of total operating profits. Now that would be pretty crazy!
