Slacker Radio Icon Being Pushed Out to All Verizon Storms

Join the Conversation »

slackerSlacker let me know that Verizon will be pushing out a homescreen link to download Slacker Radio to all Verizon BlackBerry Storms. The reason Verizon is pushing it out is because there will now be a link to purchase any song you hear on Slacker that is available in the V Cast music store.

I actually like Slacker and it is free but I am getting tired of the 20 icons AT&T is pushing out every time I get a new device.

As I mentioned before there is no good way for regular customers to block such icons. BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrators can block the appearance of these icons by setting the AllowOtherBrowsers IT policy to False. This action prevents third-party bookmark icons from being installed on the BlackBerry device though even that fails on certain icons like the AT&T music store.

Now I really hope that some inspired BlackBerry developer will create a free or even a 99 cent BlackBerry application to set an IT policy to block these annoying homescreen shortcuts.
