Wikipedia Mobile Website Officially Launched – Not Very Exciting…

Wikipedia-mobile While I don’t think that Wikipedia articles looked so bad before on my BlackBerry I was interested when I read this little tidbit. Wikipedia has officially launched the mobile version of their site. It looks like the mobile version was available for awhile now but now it is blessed as “Official.”

I just like how this new version loads much faster on my BlackBerry browser. I think it does not have as many heavy scripts. The problem is that it does not have as many options as the full browser version… It also makes you go through multiple pages… Not sure if I like that as a tradeoff. It looks like it was designed more for dumbphones than smartphones even though they claim it was designed to support the iPhone, Android, Palm Pre, & Kindle. Its interesting how the BlackBerry browser was conspicuously left off that list… It also only has a “Go” button and not a regular “Search” button. I also could not get images to show up.

Check it out at mobile.wikipedia.org and let me know what you think.

    You reviewed the wrong site.

You reviewed the depricated mobile.wikipedia.org instead of the newly launched m.wikipedia.org

  2. You are 100% correct! Much better! I used the link on intomobile and did not realize there were two sites.
