Bolt let me know that their popular mobile browser has been downloaded a million times. Pretty impressive for a 3rd party mobile browser but it is still in beta and the price is right (free). No word on how many of those installs are BlackBerrys but I am assuming it is a nice portion.
It also looks like Bolt is planning on releasing some new BlackBerry specific features so expect some good news soon! Now if only RIM would revamp their browser… Though this competition will be getting more interesting once SkyFire for BlackBerry comes out with Flash support for BlackBerry.
You can pick up this latest version of BOLT at http://boltbrowser.com

If more sites were mobile friendly browsers such as Bolt would be unnecessary. But since we don’t live in that perfect world, Bolt is amazingly intuitive and fast.
If you browse a site that just wont render properly in the BIS/BES Browsers, Bolt is absolutely wonderful.

I have been using the Bolt Browser since it was released… nothing compares at the moment… Opera Mini??? Nah… although I am anxiously awaiting a release on Skyfire… Bolt does it for me… I’m always telling my customers about it.

After reading this article I just went back to Bolt to take another look at it and I noticed two really important things that are missing:
They did add a couple of the standard blackberry shortcuts like SPACEBAR translating into a period. But I recently discovered that everywhere on the BB, holding down a key for about a second will capitalize the letter. Unfortunately, that does not work on Bolt.
The second huge thing is that there’s no Paste. I think for now, most people will be turning to Bolt when something does not come up quite right on the BB browser. It would be really nice to copy the URL from the BB browser (which is simple enough) and paste it into Bolt but no, you can’t.

To past an address in Bolt, select the address bar, press the menu key, select “edit” and paste in the edit screen.
