IRS Does About-Face on Tax for Personal Use of Business Cellphone
The IRS stirred up quite a flurry of articles when they requested public comments on clarifying a 1989 law that requires the taxing of personal usage of business cellphones. Even the Obama administration spoke out against clarifying this law that has practically never been enforced. They essentially said it was outdated.
Now the IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman has “Clarified” the request saying that they were not planning on enforcing this rule. Instead he claims that the IRS is trying to simplify rules and remove uncertainty. Now they even want to repeal the law…
Good for them!
