PhoneBAKup Adds Backup & Restore Features OTA (via Email)

My buddy Kyle spotted an updated the PhoneBAKup from Bak2U that adds a new feature that many will find interesting. Not only will PhoneBAKup help you find a stolen or lost BlackBerry but now it will also backup your address book, tasks, calendar, & memos. It does this by creating a file with that information and emailing it to yourself. You can restore it in the future by putting it on your SDcard and clicking the restore button.

You can easily schedule the backup to run daily while you are sleeping which is pretty cool. Nowhere near a real BES solution for Backup but it does give you some peace of mind. Also the app does not have a subscription fee so it is just a one time $19.90 purchase and they do have a 30 day trial. More details can be found about the backup feature at this link.

Personally I wish RIM would just let us backup to a SD card already. I used to be able to do that on my Palm YEARS ago!

  1. I’m still more partial to SmrtGuard, sure it may cost more money..but the feature set and quality of the application speaks for it’s self imo.

Back Up email, contacts, tasks, memos, call logs, remote wipe, gps tracker, emergency contact integration, sim card monitoring..list goes on.

I like the option to backup to email or to sd card. That will save a lot of hassle and to top it, it works for the same anti-theft software. So it’s just US$10 each sw. Good.
