Looks Like This Might be the Final Farewell to Alltel’s Chad…
Part of the agreement of Verizon purchasing Alltel was that they needed to divest 105 markets that were part of Alltel. 79 of them are already dealt with to AT&T for $2.35 billion which is waiting for approval. Atlantic Telecom just announced that they are purchasing more of those markets at the tune of $200 million covering 800,000 subscribers mainly in rural Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio and South Carolina.
I am not sure how much more of Alltel there is left to divest but things were just starting to get good by them. They recently did away with 2 year contracts and gave users 2 year prices for a 1 year contract…
I think this may be the final farewell for Chad once all the paperwork goes through.
