Audible has been beta testing their audio book application for quite awhile. I remember checking on it a year ago! My buddy Kevin over at CrackBerry spotted the fact that Audible for BlackBerry is finally available.
From the description:
Audible for BlackBerry is the complete Audible experience for BlackBerry smartphones. Whether you’re new to Audible or an existing customer, this free application allows for seamless integration between your BlackBerry Curve, Pearl, 8800, Bold, or Storm and the Audible.com website.
Comes with a FREE download of Thomas Friedman’s best-seller Hot, Flat, and Crowded.
- Sample, purchase, stream, and download over 60,000 titles directly to your handset.
- Explore the Free channel, featuring premium content hand-picked by Audible editors.
- All purchases are processed through Audible’s secure servers.
Audible sent the following email to subscribers earlier this week:
Listeners, we’ve listened to you and we have an announcement:
Audible is now fully compatible in every way with your BlackBerry smartphone.
Our new wireless application, Audible for BlackBerry, provides the complete Audible experience, right on your BlackBerry:
- Browse, sample, and listen to the entire Audible catalog
- Use cash or credits to purchase titles directly from your BlackBerry
- Listen however you like: stream or download over the air, or transfer to your handset with AudibleManager
- Preview audio from the “Free” channel, featuring premium titles hand-picked by our editors
Download it now and receive a free download of Hot, Flat, and Crowded by best-selling author and syndicated columnist Thomas Friedman.
You can pick up the app from your BlackBerry browser at audible.com/bb. Let us know what you think!

Downloaded AudibleAir to my Storm 6 times. It kept messing up, so I called Audible. They said that they had a known issue about the “Rotate Your Device” screen and couldn’t do anything about it at this time. As usual, Audible (which I love their concept – but have had nothing but problems with for 5 years) is one step behind and too worried about their DRMs and less worried about customer satisfaction. They made sly comments to me about my iPod, but these are the same people that marketed the infamous “Otis”, LMAO. Maybe with Amazon buying them out, the customer will finally get some sort of satisfaction. Don’t bother with AudibleAir – hope for AmazonAir.

They do NOT support the Tour either.
