Evernote Now available On BlackBerry App World

Evernote let us know that they are now available for the BlackBerry smart phone. Evernote is designed to help you remember important ideas by allowing you to write them down, or save a snapshot of what you want to view later on.  The cool part about this software is that it  has twitter integration, it allows you to tweetpic from your Evernote account. Evernote is easy to use, you can create recordings, take notes, snapshots and they are all saved to your Evernote web account where you can easily access via destop or BlackBerry.

Some information from the press release

We’re very excited about this release because, like a BlackBerry, Evernote is designed to fit perfectly into today’s fluid life/work mix. The minute you need to remember something, take out your BlackBerry and use Evernote to capture or recall whatever it is, then go on with your life. Isn’t it nice not having to worry about forgetting stuff?

Evernote for BlackBerry lets you create notes containing text, snapshots, voice recordings, and file attachments. Once created, the new content is automatically sent to the Evernote Service, making it available across all the versions of Evernote that you use. You can also access your existing notes, search by keywords, filter by tags and notebooks, or simply browse.

It is important to note that features are linked to the capabilities of your device. For example, if your BlackBerry does not have a camera, then you will not see the Snapshot note option. Also, the note searching and display experience depends on the capabilities of your BlackBerry’s built-in web browser. In general, the newer your BlackBerry, the better Evernote will run on it.

Evernote for BlackBerry is compatible with recent BlackBerry smartphones running OS 4.6 and higher. Currently supported devices are:

  • BlackBerry® Bold™
  • BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 series
  • BlackBerry® Storm™

We will release an update shortly, which will add support for some additional devices. Many older BlackBerry smartphones can be upgraded to newer operating systems. Please check with your BlackBerry vendor or carrier. Unfortunately, due to device limitations, some smartphones will not be compatible with Evernote for BlackBerry.

Evernote for BlackBerry is available exclusively through BlackBerry App World in the Productivity & Utility > Personal Organization category.

BlackBerry App World is designed to only display applications that are compatible with your device, which mean that Evernote will only show up if your smartphone is listed above.

What’s next?

Tons of cool stuff. So, stay tuned.

  1. I have a Bold but it doesn’t show up when I search.

    • I am very peeved they only made it for 4.6. I have a flippen Curve runnin the newest 4.5 on CDMA and use the hell out of EN and a paid member! Yet I get no love! Very upset!!

  2. Aw man, I only noticed that the old Curves (gee, they were only the top selling SmartPhone of Q1 2009) are not supported yet. Booo.
(BTW, I reported this to the tips last night.)

  3. Yeah, good luck finding it in App World, or really, anywhere – I have been looking for it, everywhere!

    BTW, I have a Bold.

  4. However, I went to their website, and really, you can still use it, without the BB app. Just sign up, and you will get an email address to send this data to, and it will store the data on their website for you to see there.

Just FYI. I’m trying it out. It’s free.

  5. Blackberry App World?

    No Thanks

  6. Downloaded it from appworld, works fine. Hopefully they add offline viewing though…

  7. The trend of apps being exclusive to appworld is frustrating.

I don’t need a bulky, clunky, uninspired program to download other, nicer programs for my BlackBerry.

I feel like RIM could’ve better spent time working on something else.

    • I totally agree with you! And it was especially silly to release a free client in a storefront that was limited to three countries. They have since posted an OTA link at their website and you can bypass AppWorld.

On another note, I don’t understand why RIM is limiting AppWorld to just 3 countries; although there are rumblings of carrier discontent over sharing revenue streams from AppWorld being the reason. Saying that, it isn’t doing RIM any good with public relations with users from other countries that have no access to AppWorld.

If you want to compete with Apple/iTunes – you had better come up with a better solution. Not some half-baked, “me-too” and coming out making Blackberry owners pissed off at software vendors for limiting distribution of software just because they want to be seen as part of AppWorld. Not good for software vendors, not good for RIM and certainly not good for users!

  8. I cant find it either, I’m on a Bold on 02 UK

  9. I have found their OTA link on Evernotes site

    Thanks Jujubug.

  10. Thanks for the link dilemma, worked great on my Curve. Now why would they not let us have that?

  11. hey guys is this app wifi-complaint? or it needs data connection?
