Found online: 4.6.1.239 for 8900

Secret agents 16-C4, Grand Master Berry and Double D Tox C have all been very active lately and kind enough to let us know that there is a new release of the BlackBerry OS for the Curve 8900 (a.k.a. Javelin): version 4.6.1.239. We have two links this time, it seems one of them is not working very well so we got two to make sure. Here is the first link and here is the second link.

Well, actually a couple of readers submitted those, too. But their names are not as amusing. Thanks, guys!

Of course, none of these “releases” is official. Please let us know in the comments if you have any problem with the links.

Our usual warnings apply: do not download and install these updates if you don’t know what you’re doing. Incorrect procedure or just bad luck could render your BlackBerry inoperative or unstable.

Wow and just a few hours ago I took the plunge into 5.0.0.93! If 5.0 gets to be a pain I’ll try this one. So far in 5.0.0.93 BBWeather doesn’t work, and freezes my 8900 when I try to run it. Also can’t use moodio.fm in the browser. That is pretty much a showstopper right there for me.

  2. I have had the BEST BATTERY LIFE yet on my 8900 with this OS. I highly recommend it. I haven’t had any crashes with .239 like I had a few with .231

Total crash resulting in Device error 371 and no way to reload. Not certain it was due to this os, but i did nothing more than add standard apps.

Just a warning to anyone who wants to try this os.
