Bluetooth 3.0 + HS Set to Finally Speed Things Up Next Year

Comments Off

bluetoothlogo We have been hearing rumors about Bluetooth starting to use the 802.11 protocol just like Wi-Fi but it has finally been confirmed. Bluetooth 3.0 + HS will rely on 802.11 to offer speeds up to 24Mbps which is light years ahead of the 1-3Mbps speeds we get now with Bluetooth 2.0. This means that it may finally make sense to sync your music over Bluetooth in the future. So far it looks like the new 3.0 standard will start showing up in 9-12 months but I am betting it will be longer than that until RIM thinks of implementing it. Here is to hoping they actually do!
