Verizon Adds User Reviews to Their Website

writeareview_verizon I find user reviews invaluable. I use them constantly online to make purchasing decisions. Mostly I use Amazon’s reviews along with Newegg for most of my technology purchases but there has been a recent trend where carriers are starting to offer user reviews. First AT&T started offering the option a bit back and now it looks like Verizon has jumped on the bandwagon. The problem with these reviews is that Verizon and AT&T have a much closer vested interest in the reviews.

Unlike Amazon which has millions of product alternatives for you to choose from Verizon & AT&T only have about 20-30 phones total. That makes these reviews that they manually review before publishing a little suspect. What do you think? Would you trust a review on a carriers website?

So far I have not seen any reviews for the BlackBerry devices but feel free to try it out. You do need to login to your Verizon account to leave a review.

  1. I think what we will find at Verizon (& I am a Verizon customer) are genuine comments on most devices but more filtering on exclusive devices such as Storm. I also expect whitewashing of any reviews critical of their service/customer service.

No doubt there is some statement somewhere that loosely defines what is acceptable comments, and anything critical will be removed. I think I will go find out right now how they react to my comments about the Storm….

  3. “Trust” and “carrier” are two terms that do not go well together.
