MotoGP News App for the BlackBerry

This seems to be a brand new application, available for just a few days at GetJar and updated yesterday. Getting applications from GetJar isn’t always the best experience since very few if any of their applications are made specifically for the BlackBerry, they’re usually just generic Java applets that may run well on your Berry if you’re lucky. But GetJar is always worth a visit because you can find a nice little jewel there every once in a while. This time, it’s an application for Moto GP aficionados.

Are you interested in this year’s MotoGP race? The new and official mobile application for MotoGP is now available. Get all the news, feedback and information you will ever need to be the number one in your group of friends. You will have access to time schedules, hot videos, cool ringtones and of course all the hot pictures of girls. Find information about your favorite driver and the latest results. Keep updated about the position of the different drivers, and who is number one at the specific moment. This application is available in English, Español, Français, Deutsche and Português. The best thing is that you will have all this and more right there in your pocket!

Downloading and installing apps from GetJar is also a little complicated. Actually, I think it’s pretty hideous so I can’t provide a direct OTA link. Just visit the page of the application and come back here crying if you can’t find your way around.

  1. Where’s the Formula 1 love?

  2. Installed this on my 8330 – Basically seems to be a web shortcut, except when I run the shortcut I’m taken to a page that says I’m running an unsupported handset.

  3. Guys,

Fyi, .jar files don’t always work on RIM devices with version 4.1 OS or higher due to a bug between the RIM MDS server that’s installed in carriers and other places around the world, and the handsets themselves. RIM has fixed the bug, but still has to get all of the owners of MDS servers to upgrade. Until then, downloading .jar files is problematic. RIM has decided to use their own file format, .cod, and convert jar files to .cod on the fly. This is probably never going to work perfectly and convincing RIM to run .jar directly, as most other handset OEM’s do, would be a more elegant solution.
