There was no need for research in this case, the copyright and licensing issues are obvious. I am perfectly aware of them. You could, instead, accuse me of being unfair for lashing out at Pandora for a hindrance that they did not create and maybe don't even support ideologically, but the crucial point of my snide remark still stands: the entertainment industry burdens itself and the target audience heavily with too many rules and restrictions. The whole debate over piracy and copyright infringement usually hinges on the money only, whether people are willing to pay or run away with the content without paying. I think that's shortsighted. People often want to pay, but have to jump through a number of hoops that are inexistent in piracy and peer-to-peer. In short, many people prefer piracy because it's convenient, efficient and gratifying, while paid content usually is not.

Really, I thought that the obvious sarcasm in saying that "peer-to-peer is something that will never take off" (when it's been widespread like a flu virus for about a decade) would make it clear that I was poking fun at those responsible for the restrictions whoever they are.

What did the second paragraph even mean? Anyway, the reason it's not allowed outside of the USA is because of licensing restrictions. Same with why it doesn't play the song you chose FIRST and why you there's a song skip limit. It's not that they just choose for it to be US exclusive. This could've easily been researched but I'm starting to get the feeling that the writers of this site eschew research in favor of writing for their own amusement.

Slacker comes close and would actually be a better solution if they fix the bugs on the BB. Unfortunately for .ca users, slacker also tries to block users outside USA.

Luciano:

Perhaps you are lucky, but knowledgeable you are not, certainly not about Pandora. As someone who has been using it on my desktop for two years, and now on my BB Bold, I can say there is nothing else out there that comes close.

Having my own radio stations playing my favorite music; what more can I ask. Enough to make you move to the USA, since you complain that it is not available outside the US (having to do with copyright issues, in case you were wondering).

Would like to hear from knowledgeable people about other programs that are as good.

Would be nice if they add caching lke slacker. Slacker is buggy as hell but has gotten better. It's actually to the point where it's mostly usable on my curve. If a stable streaming app with caching
