YouMail Voicemail Plus BlackBerry App v.95.6 Released

youmailplus2 Adam let me know that YouMail has updated their Voicemail Plus application for BlackBerry. Adam let me know that recently YouMail has vastly improved the Voicemail Plus application to the point where it looks like VyMail is not being updated anymore. (last VyMail update was on February 9th…)

It looks like the application is now running in the background waiting for a YouMail email. It then pulls the attachment voicemail using the app meaning there is no more synching necessary. They have also updated the icon so it looks normal now and we are starting to see some of the desktop features on the BlackBerry app such as update/change the greeting.

    It is sad to see VyMail dropping off, because it was initially far superior, and I still prefer it, however it is good to stick with an app that is continuing to evolve.

    My guess is that YouMail bought the rights to VyMail and will probably be implementing the better features and throwing-away the rest. That’s just speculation, of course. It may just be that the dude is really busy with life and a full-time job that actually pays him something. :-)

    Why is the font so big on my Bold? My system font is 7 but this app for some reason makes the font bigger with no way to change it?

    VyMail is not dead! Joe has just had some other priorities to attend to, and he hopes to get back at it shortly…

      That’s good to hear because I personally prefer VyMail over YouMail’s Voicemail Plus client. Granted, I haven’t tried this new version yet, but VyMail has been rock solid for me.

    I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but I can’t even get it to work on my Bold…keeps saying ‘connection error’.

    this updated version is actually much better than the first one. it works pretty nicely. what would make it better is if it has options for audio alerts on new voicemail. currently when there’s a new VM, the icon changes to a star so you can see. but if you have the app buried inside other folders and not on your homescreen, it’ll be difficult to know when you get new VM so an audio alert like VYMail would be nice.

    Never had a problem before this v. Now it begins to open then closes giving me a popup of:
    ! Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException
    HELP
