Telstra Australia Takes Guinness World Record For 3G Speeds
Now this is a little turn of events. Greg let me know that Telstra in Australia just received a Guinness World Record for the worlds fastest mobile broadband speeds. This is not for BlackBerrys just yet but most 3G datacards in the US practically never top 1 mbps in real world download speeds. Using HSPA+ Telstra won the record with real world speeds ranging from 550 Kbps to 8 Mbps!!! To get these speeds you need to use their new Turbo 21 modem but still that is impressive. The theoretical speed max is 21Mbps but I doubt they will get close to that.
Now if only we could convince some US carriers to speed up their rollouts of LTE so we can see this kind of speed sometime in this decade⦠I just find it depressing how far the US lags behind other countries when it comes to broadband speeds.
