Mike Lazaridis Interviewed About The Future of RIM

lazaridis Josep sent me a link to a interesting interview that Andrew Berg of WirelessWeek had with Mike Lazaridis. Nothing crazy interesting came out of the interview but I now have a greater respect for Lazaridis’s ability to avoid answering a question…

My two favorite questions that Lazaridis managed to skirt were:

  • How has the iPhone influenced your strategy or vision for RIM?
  • It seems like device makers are under a lot of pressure to release new devices, and sometimes glitches arise after commercial introduction. Are there a few key principles that you now insist on before approving a handset for market?

I recommend reading it if you like to see executives talk around a question. Lazaridis manages to hit the nail on the head by saying that customers want stability AND features. On the other hand here we are still sitting pretty with a very buggy OS build for the Storm…

The storm OS that is officially available is buggy as all hell. The unoffical unreleased unsupported beta is more or less stable kind of like how the Bold OS is “stable”
