RIM Releases BlackBerry Quick Search Powered By Google For No Reason…

After Google updated their search application this comes out of left field. Mackie let me know last night that RIM has released their own Google quick search application for BlackBerry… But this one does not have My Location support or voice searches or anything else… Kinda weird. Sorry for no screenshots but I just didn’t even bother installing it myself.

If you want to pick it up you can grab it at this link or by heading to mobile.blackberry.com and going to the link at the top of the page…

  1. One reason to install would be that it’s only 79k instead of 653k, which is what the Google App is up to these days.

  2. Amen!

  3. Seriously if you’re worried about the size of an app that is 653k, then you need a more modern BB.

    • @Kyle: I have the 8320 which I still consider a “modern” BlackBerry, however I am constantly looking to manage how much free memory I have left. There are so many good BB apps, it is impossible to have all the ones you want and have a good amount of free memory. The 8900 is one device that got this right, and I do plan to upgrade to an 8900, but RIM did a disservice by releasing good devices like the 83XX series with so little internal memory.
