8330m OS 4.5.0.138 Officially Released by US Cellular

Personally I did not even know that there was a 8330m compared to the regular 8330. Dalton let me know that RIM is has been running out of ESN numbers so they created the 8330m that switched to using the longer and IMEI standard compatible MEID numbers. US Cellular just quietly released OS 4.5.0.138 for the 8330m but I am not sure if it will work on a regular 8330… Only one way to truly find out but their official release of OS 4.5 for the regular 8330 is still sitting at a pitiful 4.5.0.66.

I tried it on my 8330 and didn’t work… Has anybody got this working on a 8330 from Verizon or Sprint??

  2. Same luck on my 8330 from USCC…

I got it the day it launched so I am thinking I don’t have the 8330m…

    Anyone else have better luck?

  3. Also, I performed a “hybrid” install onto my VZW 8830 of this same OS — essentially overlaying the Java files from the 8830 release (after performing a complete backup of both data and 3rd-party apps, of course ;-) ) on top of my OS v4.5.0.135 (Sprint) installation. On one of the forums, I saw a post about someone with a USCC 8830 receive an automated update via the RIM web-based updater even though USCC has not yet posted the software for the 8830 — unfortunately, this method wasn’t available to me since 1) RIM checks carrier by PIN and 2) web-based updates are not available to BES users.
