Brian and Sierra let me know about this slick new BlackBerry application called iHeartRadio. It lets you stream 150+ radio stations in real time to your BlackBerry. Unlike Slacker it also works in Canada which is a plus. The audio quality is also pretty good and it has a nice randomize feature to help you find a new station. It is available for the Pearl, Curve, & Bold currently with the Storm coming soon. Definitely worth checking out!

This looks like a nice app. Love the idea of pickin up local stations. Shame there are very few radio streaming apps compatible/aimed at the UK market. I’ve been using Flycast which is pretty good and I can pick up some of the BBC stations but not many.

There is no love for the 8830. I will wait and see if there will be an update.

Dunno how anyone got this to work consistently in Canada, an 8900 and a Bold and it will ONLY work on wifi, turn on EDGE or 3G and it stutters and spits like an old ford truck and dies out.

I hope they employ the caching feature that slacker implements. I loved slacker but had to give up on it. It’s so bloated and buggy/crashy that I just got too frustrated.

Too bad it does not support 8320 and T-Mobile’s network.

I would like to control the volume when my device is locked like I do when using media player. To adjust the volume I have to unlock my Bold.
I never found an radio application that does this.
Locked means that I’m using a password to protect it.

I use a BT headset with external volume control. It’s a Jabara BT8010 but I’m sure there are others. It also has buttons that let you skip songs and resume playback after a chime/ring but they only work with the BB media player.

Ed,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I was looking for the Sony DRBT22 Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headset to solve this.

I loveee the iheartRadio app. Join this group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=14712802647&ref=ts it has up to date info about new BB products. It’s how I learned about the app before anyone else.
