UPDATE 2: Thanks to PRP2 we have an OTA install link
http://bit.ly/ji3dg
UPDATE: Thanks to BBGun you can pick up the installer from Rapidshare at this link:
rapidshare.com/files/209509904/Facebook_1.5_OS4.6.rar
Looks like the desktop installer for Facebook 1.5 for the Bold and maybe the 8900 sneaked its way online. Can’t say where it originally came from since we have gotten quite a few tips pointing in different locations. On the other hand the easiest place to find it right now is in the CrackBerry Forums thanks to DetectiveBerry (Love the avatar!). The install is desktop manager only and our good buddy Kevin from CrackBerry hooked us all up with a screenshot.
You can pick it up at CrackBerry Forums at this link (You may need to register to download)
Thanks to everybody else who sent this in! Sorry for not being able to credit you all and track down the source but its Saturday night and I just got home and I need some quality time with my pillow…

The one really annoying thing about this version is that although you can update/create contacts in your phone’s contact list from Facebook, it won’t copy across their phone numbers (when given in their Facebook profiles), just their name, Facebook name, and Facebook profile photo.
I really hope that’s resolved in the next release.

I believe this is what happens – you ‘link’ a contact to a BB record, and that person then gets a ‘phonebook sharing request’ similar to a tagged photo request etc.
Once they accept that, then I think you are connected and auto-updated. It isn’t perfectly clear the exact behaviour but some of my contacts did receive a new notification called a “phonebook request” so the backend piece is in place @ Facebook.
I imagine the final documentation will spell out exactly how this works.
It really makes little sense, as I can manually put that information in my contact book now, but if I want to automate that process, I need your permission, but a lot of this is speculative so not sure if I am totally right.
Will be interesting to see what the final behaviour will be.

I went ahead and converted this to an OTA install for those who’d rather do that.
Just point your BB browser to http://bit.ly/ji3dg

Thanks, Ronen.
I figured I’d whip that up because I saw some people over on the CB forums asking for an OTA link, and I normally prefer to install things that way myself, so… figured it would be a natural thing. Glad to help out.

Beautiful! Thanks a ton for the OTA link prp2. For some reason, I was having problems with the DM install.
Works great now. Love the comment functionality.

After linking contacts between Facebook friend lists an your BB Contacts, you can not Sync with Outlook. It appears an error saying that there is a problem with de database.

I’m pretty sure that OTA link just owned my Bold. Facebook doesn’t show up as an installed app, and something is chewing up my CPU like mad.

Installing the current 1.2 from Facebook’s site seems to have made it happier. Anyone else experience this?

Once integration of contacts (BB + FB) takes place, it won’t sync w/ Outlook. Anyone know how to fix this? Is it a data-mapping issue? I noticed it adds a field called “FaceBook Name” or something like that to the contact info. Maybe that’s what is making Outlook and Active Sync mad?
Beyond that, the application is very nice and works well on my Bold. Love the ability to comment on status, etc. Although the message integration seems redundant. But… whatever.

Say, whatever happened to this? It was leaked, for certain devices, but then nothing. I’m assuming that there were problems with it, since it’s now a month later and there hasn’t been an official release. Nor has there been (to my knowledge) leaks of versions that run on OS 4.5 devices.
