Developer: MyPoynt Cost: Free

Picture 1Nikolaus and Tom let me know that the popular MyPoynt application now supports non GPS devices. It is now capable of using cell phone towers to triangulate your location like Google Maps “My Location.” This is very useful for a quick location lock indoors and also for devices that do not have GPS.

In case you don’t remember MyPoynt is a free location based search application for your BlackBerry providing GPS yellow pages, movie info, and directions.

To pick it up OTA head over to m.mypoynt.com or get more info from your computer at this link.

  1. It is about time they include Triangulation! The last version made you think it was doing so, but the cities it always told me I was in were wrong wrong wrong. Now it works :)

  2. This app would be a big deal if goog maps didn’t already do this. Well, I’m not sure about movie listings but it does everything else.
