Facebook 1.5 Previewed! Will Add Contacts Integration & More

Comments Off

facebook15 We have been wondering for awhile now about what happened to Facebook 1.5 for BlackBerry. We saw a small preview in November of 2008 and nothing since. It was rumored to be scheduled for January but that has come and gone. Still no definite release date but Michael over at the BoyGenius caught some great info about the upcoming version 1.5 when it does actually get released.

The new 1.5 when it is released will sport a few major & minor new enhancements linking your contacts, calendar, and messages with Facebook.

  • WAP single sign on: It was always annoying that when you went to view a friends profile you had to login again on the mobile site. You wont have to anymore…
  • Contacts integration: This feature will let you integrate Facebook friends with your existing BlackBerry contacts. This includes phone numbers and profile pictures. You can select which contacts to do this will by linking them or not.
  • Messages integration: This one was a long time coming. You will no get Facebook messages in your messages application instead of only in the Facebook application.
  • Calendar integration: I love this feature. It will automatically put Facebook events that you have accepted and your friends birthdays to a new “Facebook” labeled calendar in the regular calendar application.

There are a couple more features if you are interested in catching them at the BoyGenius along with more screenshots.

Thanks Raptor for sending this one in!
